Meet the Historian

Bryant Neal is a noted map historian and the founder of the Story of Hawaii Museum Exhibit & Gallery.

After moving to Maui in 1982, Bryant joined Lahaina Printsellers, where he served as vice president and developed a deep appreciation for antiquarian books, maps and prints. That experience inspired him to create a distinctive way of presenting Hawaii’s history, using original maps and documents as the visual framework for its story.

For more than three decades, Bryant has shared his knowledge and collection with residents, visitors, cultural organizations and private groups throughout Hawaii.
